In the hustle and bustle of modern life, where women often find themselves wearing multiple hats, juggling careers, family, and personal aspirations, the toll on holistic wellness can be easily felt. The relentless pace, paired with societal expectations, creates a lifestyle that can sometimes make the time left for self-care feel depleting. If anyone understands, it’s us.
With understanding the multifaceted demands of the modern lifestyle, we always often find ourselves getting caught up with the fast-paced world. The demands of career, family, and the “I should be doing this” mentality can take a toll on our well-being, leaving us feeling stretched thin and disconnected from our own needs. In the relentless pursuit of this thing we call ‘balance’, holistic wellness emerges as a luxury, to say the least. Holistic wellness serves as a reminder to prioritize self-care without guilt or reservation. It's about carving out moments for yourself, whether through mindfulness practices, getting in daily sun, movement or simply finding joy in small everyday pleasures like a skincare routine or gua-sha.
Recently, we had a moment to chat with Dr. Nadia Musavvir, a Naturopathic doctor with expertise in PCOS, acne, skin conditions, gut health & thyroid.
“When embracing holistic wellness, it’s important to realize it is a lifestyle; there's no one thing that defines wellness but rather a collection of habits that nourish the mental, emotional, and physical bodies that end up becoming part of your daily life. True holistic wellness includes the mind, body, and spirit. Start becoming intentional with your choices around food, movement, rest, and community; pay attention to what helps you feel charged and happy as well as what drains you” Dr. Nadia shares.
If we’ve learned anything, it’s that holistic wellness isn't a one-size-fits-all approach; it's a journey with no set destination, that ultimately, allows women to have control over their health and happiness. It involves tuning into the body's signals, understanding emotional needs, and fostering connections that nourish the soul.
When speaking about holistic wellness surrounding hormones, Dr. Nadia explains
‘‘When hormones are balanced, you're likely glowing from the inside out. Balanced hormones keep inflammation in check, metabolism optimal, good digestion, better body composition, good energy, restful sleep, clear skin, and healthy hair. Imbalanced hormones can lead to a cascade of issues and usually have a domino effect; if one is out then other areas have to overcompensate and eventually become imbalanced as well".
